Rangoli: Roses

A roses dotted kolam, from Sirkazhi. Please note that the people who made it would most probably not be able to read the comments, or even come to know about them (not until I tell them the next time I see them during my visit). I find them interesting, since the same dotted kolam made by different people, carries different personalities. Smile

Rangoli: Rangoli designs

A picture taken in our South trip (town of Sirkazhi), during the winter holidays. This picture was taken from the neighboring yards of the town's famous temple; Sattainathar temple with main dieties being Brahmapureeshwarar (Shiva)- Thirunilainaayaki (Parvathi). Colloquially, this temple is called the "Periya koil" (meaning big temple, in tamil). The temple is situated near the banks of the river Kollidam. You might have come across the story of one of the great saivaite saint, Thirugranasambandhar, who, as an infant was fed the milk of wisdom by Goddess Parvathy.

(This temple is also a local favorite spot for students, during the study holidays. One such student was Mani (my husband), who nostalgically visits the temple telling us stories, whenever we visit his hometown). Smile

Rangoli: Rangoli designs

A picture taken in our South trip (one of the streets in Sirkazhi), during the winter holidays. When I asked the lady if I could click a picture, she said with a surprised look on her face; "This one? Take a picture tomorrow, as I plan to color the one I'm making tomorrow". Smile

I'll revisit this page to count/add the dot details later.

Rangoli: Rangoli Designs - Double stroked

A picture taken in our South trip (one of the streets in Sirkazhi), during the winter holidays. Dot count: 15x1

Rangoli: Rose

Drawn and sent by an unknown author. We receive files like these that couldn't be traced back to a valid username, or to an emailid submitted in their profile. Emailing back to the sender gives us no response, and I see no further use waiting any longer. So, I'm going to publish them and save in a folder called "Unknown author" in the Gallery area. Might come in handy one day, when the author claims it some day. Good to be hopeful. Smile

Rangoli: Kaipidi-kolam (handle)

Kaipidik-kolam. Dotted kolam. Kaipidi means handle in Tamil.
First: 26 - 4
second: 21 - 5

Rangoli: Rangoli - framed art

Framed Rangoli/kolam artwork. Rangoli and Kolam designs can be used as framed art work. Here is an example of our "Bouquet of flowers" dotted kolam design, that had been framed a couple of years ago. It brightens up a wall in our family room!
