This is a classic combination of Lotuses and Butterflies. I am never tired of this combination. Hope you like it.
Who doesn't like Butterflies? I love them. They are colourful and when we see them flying around, we feel like little children very happy very playful. Don't you agree with me.
I have a very small garden. But many butterflies keep visiting my garden through out the day. Early in the morning during winter, butterflies spread out their wings by clinging to leaves or flowers of shrubs, to dry them(because of dew. Only after the Sun rise well into the sky they become active. So I could take photos of them and study them at close quarters.
Butterflies to me represent colour, happiness, playfulness and joy. So I always love to include them in my Rangolis, embroidery or greeting cards...
I love lotus. Very beautiful, sacred to our religion. They make a good subject for kolams. No matter how many kolams I draw of kolams, I again create new Kolams. Please let me know how this kolam is.
Pongal or Sankranti as we call in Andhra is basically a festival of thanksgiving to Sun and Lord Vishnu. It is an agriculture or rather harvest festival and celebrated very well in small town and villages. this festival brings back my child hood memories when all of our family members used to meet at my grandma's place and celebrate. Kolams, dolls kolu, bhogi bonfires, Kanuma cattle worship, going to latest movies and what not...I miss it all. Hence this kolam.
This Rangoli I created for Christmas. 20 dots-4 rows in the center to 4 dots-straight dots.
Rangoli for New Year. Easy one.
This Rangoli is one which I have created for Diwali 2013. This is drawn on paper. This was posted on my blog.
I keep on creating new Rangolis for various festivals and post some on my blog- http:/summersofindia.blogspot.in
Some times it takes me days to create one Rangoli and some times it just takes a few hours. This one took me three hours. I wanted, lotuses, Diyas as an offering to Goddess Lakshmi. I also wanted the chain rangoli to be part of this. Hence the creation.
I like simple easy to draw Rangolis as I feel that on festive days we have to do so many things and spending lot of time on Rangoli gives me tension and spoils the festive spirit.
